The information technology association CompTIA has created a new volunteer body to help increase the diversity, size and skill level of the industry's workforce.

The Advancing Tech Talent and Diversity Community was formed by merging four existing CompTIA volunteer groups focused on diversity and finding future leaders. The combined group will seek to promote efforts to increase skills and performance in the existing workforce as well as help organizations develop inclusive workplace culture strategies.
"The creation of the Advancing Tech Talent and Diversity Community is a natural evolution," Nancy Hammervik, executive vice president for industry relations at CompTIA, said in a statement. "On their own, each of the earlier communities did outstanding work. By bringing them together into a single entity we expand and enhance our ability to ‘crowdsource' the great ideas and thought leadership available from these talented individuals."
CompTIA currently lists eight communities on its website, including the tech talent and diversity community and a group focused on IT security.
